Shiva Nataraja
Lord of the Dance, sends pulsating waves of awakening sound through matter,
thereby seducing it to life from lethargy. And matter dances, appearing
round about him as an aureole of fiery emanations. Dancing, he creates and
sustains the manifold phenomena of the universe; dancing he destroys by fire
all forms and name and gives new rest.
The dancer of creation, lord of joy and sorrow, Nataraj's dance symbolizes
life's ebb and flow and the intricate balance between form and void.
Surrounded by a whirling flame of cosmic energy, Nataraj stands upon the
demon of spiritual ignorance.
The creator is seen as the 'unmoved mover' behind events in the cosmos, the
still point round which everything must turn, simply because it holds its
peace, encompassing both movement and perfect immobility. Rhythmic sound, in
cosmogonic myths, is at the root of all creation; and the gods are -or God
is -the formulated power through which the life-force manifests itself.
Truth, being beyond sound and rhythm, is the invisible divine center round
which all creation dances.
Wall Ganesha
As he is most commonly called is the most worshipped God in India, Though
he may not be the most popular. Ganesha holds a unique position in the
religious culture of India, a position that has no other parallel in any
other religion. Any ceremony, ritual, puja, or any new undertaking has to
begin with invoking the power of Ganapati first, otherwise it is regarded as
futile. Hence he is worshipped almost constantly round the clock. The
philosophical description about the form of Ganesha are the beautiful
messages for the Today's world. Lord Ganesha's BIG HEAD inspires us to think
big and think profitably; the NARROW EYES point to deep concentration needed
to finish tasks in hand well and quickly; the LONG NOSE tells us to poke
around inquisitively to learn more and the SMALL MOUTH reminds us to speak
less and listen more.
Lord
Krishna with Flute
The supreme incarnation of Vishnu, Krishna is the God supposed to be the
most popular in contemporary Hinduism. He is certainly the best known abroad
because of the Krishna conciousness movement, better known as Hare Krishnas.
His name literally means "Black". His name describes the hue of
his skin, dark at night. His skin is described as deep blue, is explained as
the result of venomous snakebite with a poison flooding his system and
turning the skin the characteristic blue.
Buddha Avataar
Buddha Avataar- Reaction, Assimilation, and Reinvention in the great
Tradition. It is well known that the Buddha is one of the avatars of Vishnu.
His dignified hearing, his high intellectual endowments, his penetrating
glance, his oratorical power, his firmness of convictions, his gentleness,
kindness and liberality, and the attractiveness of character all testify to
his greatness.
Among the world religious teachers Buddha alone has the glory of having
rightly judged the intrinsic greatness of man's capacity to work out his
salvation without extraneous aid. The worth of a truly great man consists in
his raising the worth of all mankind, who is better entitled to be called
truly great than the Blessed One.
In him were united the truest princely qualities with the intelligence of a
sage and the passionate devotion of a martyr. Though born of an aristocratic
and ruling class, the Buddha lived the life of an ordinary man, discarding
the narrow distinctions of caste, rank and wealth.
